- Should I order
the Cabled or Wireless EASE Vehicle Interface? - |
|
You’re considering the
purchase, or have already decided to purchase
an EASE Diagnostics PC Scan Tool…but now you
have another choice to make; do I go cabled,
or wireless? As with anything, there are
benefits and drawbacks to both methods.

EASE
Cabled Vehicle Interface |
|
The EASE Diagnostics cable
interface is the most durable interface on
the market, with steel construction
throughout, making it ideally suited for
the shop environment. Its compact size
makes it easy to use and store. Performing
on the road diagnostics from the front
seat of a test vehicle with its short
cable allows you to eliminate “seat
clutter”, keeping the driving area clear.

|
Although less expensive
than its wireless cousin, one of the drawbacks of this device is cable length.
To reach a vehicle parked on the other end
of the shop, or outdoors (when using a
desktop PC) you’ll need a long cable to
reach that area. A 15 foot USB cable is
included with this interface. The addition of the
six-foot OBD II vehicle cable would allow you to
reach a maximum of 21 feet. If using a
laptop PC, this in not as issue because of
its portability, but often times, a
technician would prefer to leave the
laptop in a centralized location from
which to work. |

EASE
Wireless Vehicle Interface |
|
The EASE wireless interface
is also housed in a steel case for maximum
durability, and is one of our most popular
items. Using this device eliminates the
need for cables between the test vehicle
and the PC. Being a true “RF” unit, this
interface does not require line-of-sight
to operate, and had an effective range of
up to several hundred feet. Greater
flexibility lets you increases your
productivity through easier connection to
vehicles in any bay or areas outside the
service center.

EASE wireless works in ANY
environment, and its IP addressing makes
it less subject to interference from other
wireless components or systems in the
shop, such as a wireless alignment
machine.
Shop environments can be
tough on equipment, but the EASE wireless
can save you money, by eliminating
potential cable damage or having to
replace cables due to normal wear and
tear. In addition, the system will
virtually eliminate cable hazards that can
cause tripping and/or vehicle body damage.
One of the drawbacks of the
EASE wireless system is that it costs more
than a conventional cabled interface.
It also may require
extra wireless accessories to function
correctly. And although very durable and
virtually trouble free, with thousands in
use every day, it may, on occasion,
require additional technical support, due
to the high tech nature of the product.
